Fear not, as this blog post will provide you with a step-by-step guide to finding the perfect home for sale in Roanoke.

Define Your Criteria

Before starting your search, it's essential to identify your specific requirements. Make a list of must-have features, preferred neighborhoods, desired amenities, and the budget you're willing to invest in your new home. Being clear about your priorities will help you focus your search and save time.

Seek the Assistance of Local Real Estate Agents

Local real estate agents are the experts who can help you navigate the Roanoke housing market. They have valuable insights into the area, including recent trends, property values, and available inventory. Engaging a knowledgeable agent can streamline your search, ensuring you don't miss any potential gems.

Utilize Online Real Estate Platforms

In today's digital age, numerous online real estate platforms can be your best friends in the house hunting process. Websites such as Zillow, Realtor.com, Trulia, and Redfin allow you to filter searches based on your criteria, explore virtual tours, and get an idea of property values in the area. These platforms also provide valuable data on local schools, crime rates, and other community information.

Attend Open Houses

You can interact with real estate agents and gather information about the property and the surrounding community.

Drive Through Desired Neighborhoods

Research Local Amenities and Services

Apart from the home itself, consider the proximity to essential amenities and services. Check out the accessibility of schools, hospitals, parks, shopping centers, and public transportation options. Understanding the available amenities will help you assess the overall convenience of a particular location.

Consider New Developments

Roanoke's growth often includes new residential developments. Research ongoing and upcoming projects in the area, as they might offer modern homes with the latest amenities and energy-efficient features.

Be Patient and Flexible

Finding the perfect home can take time, so be patient throughout the process. Stay flexible with your search criteria, as you might come across a home that exceeds your expectations in unexpected ways.

Westlake and the surrounding area was settled by Charles and Matilda Medlin who arrived in the area with about 20 other families in 1847. Originally, they settled along Denton Creek but moved to higher ground to the south after weathering ferocious floods along the creek. One of the historic landmarks was the three story Medlin barn which was estimated to be about 130 years before its removal in 1997 due to safety issues. There are several legends of Bonnie and Clyde and Sam Bass hiding out in the barn.

In 1956, the Circle T Ranch was founded by Dallas lawyer Glen Turner when he purchased about 2000 acres along highway 114. Soon afterward, dozens of other ranches and homeowners in the surrounding community incorported taking the name of Westlake. This included present day Westlake and the area to the north all the way to the north shore of Denton Creek. This northern land was later disannexed from Westlake to form Trophy Club. Denton Creek was dammed and by 1952, Lake Grapevine was formed.
